The NCHC properties
The Co-op owns a total of 28 properties in the North Camden area - all within an approximate one-mile radius of Kentish Town. The properties are mostly Victorian houses which were acquired and converted into flats in the early 1980s to provide predominantly 1 -bedroom flats. There is also one new-build scheme, which is a 15-unit block of flats that was constructed in 1983. Six properties (15 flats) owned by Camden Peoples Housing Co-op were transferred in 2000. Of these, three were in permanent management and three required complete renovation. This work has now been completed, as part of the Co-op's Business Plan, through a loan facility with Britannia Building Society. The Co-op intends to continue with the improvement and upgrading of existing flats. The current mix of properties is as follows:
The Co-op plans to improve and upgrade its stock to an agreed standard over the next 10 years. When setting the standards, it has been recognised that both they and the tenants' expectations will continue to change. The standards which are set out in the maintenance policy are therefore reviewed every two years. Below is a selection of NCHC properties.
