The NCHC Mission Statement
"To provide good standard housing for local people in housing need who have the desire and commitment to manage their own housing through the Co-op. It therefore seeks to principally accommodate single people and to provide for developing needs through household changes, age, special needs and disability."
Our Structure

The General Meeting
The highest authority within the co-op is the General Meeting. Its main area of responsibility is to decide on policy and constitutional issues. General Meetings are held several times a year with an Annual General Meeting each July. Committee members are elected at the Anual General Meeting.

Committee structure
The Co-operative is run by its Management Committee, which has a minimum of seven and maximum of fifteen members. It meets every month. Operational matters are decided by the Committee on the basis of advice and recommendations received from the sub-committees, professionals and staff.

The Management Committee delegates specific areas of work to three Subcommittees - Finance, Property Maintenance and Allocations. These meet monthly.

In addition the Management Committee establishes Task Groups to carry out one-off projects and report back. Recent areas include policy reviews, rent setting, liason over merger and development. Once agreed by the Management Committee new policies are put to General Meetings for approval.

The NCHC staff
The Co-op employs a mixture of staff and consultants to deliver its services. This helps to ensure that the Co-op, as a small organisation, is well informed on current good practice and general developments in the field of housing.
